
INTRODUCTION
Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana is a specialized branch that focuses on Indian alchemy, pharmaceutics, and therapeutic formulations. It deals with the preparation and processing of medicines using both classical Ayurvedic principles and modern pharmaceutical techniques to meet current healthcare needs.
The department provides practical training in both traditional and contemporary pharmaceutical procedures. It is well-equipped with over 100 mineral and herbo-mineral samples, more than 76 charts, and 30+ models, facilitating effective and interactive learning. The department also houses a well-established Quality Control Laboratory, equipped with essential instruments for testing and standardization of raw materials and finished formulations, ensuring safety and quality as per prescribed standards.
A spacious and fully equipped teaching pharmacy enables hands-on training in drug preparation and processing techniques, helping students gain practical expertise. Regular industrial visits to Ayurvedic pharmacies are organized to further enhance real-world exposure and understanding of large-scale manufacturing practices.
OBJECTIVES
- To impart fundamental and applied knowledge of Ayurvedic Pharmaceutics (Aushadhi Nirmana) and Clinical Pharmacology (Aushadhi Prayoga Vigyana).
- To develop practical skills in the preparation of Ayurvedic formulations using classical and modern techniques.
- To ensure understanding and application of quality control parameters for raw materials, in-process stages, and finished products.
- To enable rational selection and proper administration of Ayurvedic medicines in clinical practice.
