Foundation of Ayurvedic Wisdom

The Department of Samhita Siddhant forms the intellectual and philosophical backbone of Ayurvedic education, where students are introduced to the मूल तत्त्व (fundamental principles) of Ayurveda through systematic study of classical texts. The department is dedicated to preserving the authenticity of Samhitas while making their knowledge relevant to modern clinical practice.
At the core of this department lies Samhita Adhyayan – I, as prescribed by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. This subject lays the strong foundation for understanding Ayurvedic Siddhantas, emphasizing Trisutra (Hetu, Linga, Aushadha), Dosha-Dhatu-Mala concepts, and basic principles of health and disease.
Academic Focus: Samhita Adhyayan – I
“शास्त्रं ज्ञानहेतुं च चिकित्सायाः प्रतिष्ठितम्”
Samhita Adhyayan – I is designed to ensure that students:- Develop fundamental understanding of Ayurvedic principles (CO1, CO4)
- Gain ability to read and interpret classical Samhitas (CO2, CO5)
- Master Shloka recitation, memorization, and explanation (CO3)
- Cultivate discipline through regular Samhita Vachan and textual study (CO6)
- Enhance analytical thinking and application-based understanding (CO7)
These outcomes directly contribute to achieving Program Outcomes (POs) such as strong Ayurvedic knowledge base, clinical competence, communication skills, and lifelong learning attitude.
